What is Hypnosis?
The Textbook definition of Hypnosis is as follows;
Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness which lies between the waking state and sleep. It is generally brought about in an individual by the use of a combination of concentration, relaxation, suggestion and expectation.

Dr. Allen Chips defines Altered States of Consciousness as "a shift in a persons consciousness which can be subjectively and/or objectively distinguished from the mental processes that generally exist in the waking state."

One cannot accept a suggestion that they do not agree with.
As a Hypnotist I use a combination of Progressive Relaxation technique and a Hypnosis Script, which is a story with suggestions for the subconscious mind to either accept or reject. When I work with a client, I use their words to their own aim within the script so that it is easy for the subconscious mind to accept.
The reason for doing this is that the subconscious mind is where we store our previous experiences and our mistaken beliefs. This is where our compulsions come from. When one chooses to reprogram their outdated beliefs, doing so allows for the client to make profound and lasting changes in their lives.
Generally Hypnosis effects are most clearly achieved between 5-7 sessions per topic. The reason for this is that there are many layers to the psyche and what seems like the answer one week, will reveal another layer of comprehension to be worked with.
