Six simple ways to step up your consciousness through the nervous system

These simple things may appear small, however each one opens a door between the physical body and spirit. When we return again and again to the rhythm of our breath, when we feel our pulse pressing and living, when we whisper to the core of the spine we are teaching the nervous system to remember peace. We are teaching ourselves that we are safe in this moment and that we can trust ourselves... in this now. From that peace, consciousness arises. The body begins to trust again - the mind becomes a clear vessel through which light can move - this is when we begin to feel the mind settle into alignment again, instead of being swept up by the countless thoughts that once had us scattered. Awareness does not grow from effort, but from allowing the noise to fall away.

The planets are urging and empowering embodiment before revelation. With Neptune shaping our dreams and Saturn asking for integrity, the message is simple: truth must live in the body before it can be lived in the world. Uranus continues to stir the old patterns, breaking open what has been locked up inside of our tissues. Jupiter, ever the teacher, expands what is already awakening within us. These celestial forces are not asking for grand gestures. They are inviting our presence, for sincerity, and for the willingness to stay inside the moment.

Each of these practices does exactly that. They help us stay. They root the higher frequencies into form so that spirit (Neptune) can find expression through matter (Saturn). The planets remind us that consciousness is not something we chase, but something we remember...once the body feels safe enough to hold it.

·  Whisper to your spine

Sit in stillness and breathe through the core of your spine. Imagine it is a bone straw, filled with light. As you exhale, softly whisper the word “soften.” This brings the mind into the body’s midline and invites the nervous system to release its grip. Do this for 5-10 minutes in combination with other exercises to truly begin to strengthen your nervous system.

·  Gaze at moving water or flame

Watch the way water flows or a flame swims. The organic motion draws the brain into rhythm and steadiness. It reminds consciousness of its own natural balance.

·  Trace your pulse

Rest two fingers on your wrist and feel your pulse for one full minute. Simply witnessing your own heartbeat begins to synchronize thought and emotion into calm awareness.

·  Tongue to palate grounding

Let your tongue rest on the roof of your mouth just behind the front teeth. Breathe slowly and consciously, just feeling. This small gesture completes a quiet circuit in the body and signals safety to the nervous system.

·  Listen for the quietest sound

Close your eyes and notice the faintest sound in the space around you. It may be your breath, a soft hum, or a sound in the distance. Listening in this way moves you from vigilance to curiosity.

·  Step barefoot onto soil

Stand on the earth for half a minute. Feel the temperature and texture beneath your feet. The body recognizes this contact and begins to remember its natural rhythm. Begin to breathe in the vibration of the Earth and exhale through the feet, all that is ready to be released in that moment.
